Motivational Monday – Pay Fitness Forward!

Motivational Monday – Pay Fitness Forward!

| BY Jennifer

Greetings my MAD COOL peeps and Happy Monday! Let’s hope we’re in the dog days of winter….And what a nutty winter it’s been.

In addition to the weather, these last few weeks have been a little nuts for me between work, school, MCF, and my never-ending quest to participate in Penn Relays next month (fingers crossed).

We all face challenges, in fitness and in life. The saying goes, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” and sometimes you go through things “because it was a lesson you needed to learn.” That’s all well and good, but sometimes you’re like, “Please oh great universe, don’t send me any more lessons. I’ve learned plenty!”

I too have had my struggles in life and in fitness. Most recently I pulled my calf muscle and haven’t been able to run. Determined to not fall apart and stay on the course toward my goals, I’ve adjusted my workouts but it’s been a bummer. School is a lot. Work is a lot. MCF is a lot. I got a lot going on. When you’re going through things, you often don’t feel that you’re moving forward until you get through them and then you can look back and say, “Look how far I’ve come. So glad I didn’t crack up along the way!”

Even though I have a lot going on, I recently had the pleasure of teaching a wellness seminar at Independence High School in Manhattan. I was invited by the Links, a wonderful organization of high-powered black women who do amazing work in the community.

This experience was amazing! And just what I needed to remind me why I started MCF in the first place. These young men and women had so much energy, were so welcoming, and engaged….droppin’ it like it was hot during MAD COOL CARDIO, and asking great nutrition questions during the wellness seminar…they inspired me. It reminded me to keep pushing forward in this mission of wellness NO MATTER WHAT. And it is my responsibility to share what knowledge I have.

So this week, if you’re going through some thangs, and having a little bit of a pity party, the best thing to do is to help someone else. You will be helping them and also in the process, you will be helping yourself, activating yourself to push through obstacles to keep forward toward you goals in fitness and in life, NO MATTER WHAT

Go get’ em.
